Strip footings, also known as strip foundations, are a type of shallow foundation used primarily for load-bearing or support walls. These foundations are placed no more than 3m deep and can be used for both exterior and interior walls, as well as supporting heavy loads like beams. They consist of a continuous, level strip of concrete that spreads the weight of the load evenly and can stretch along large expanses of ground. Often, they are combined with thickened slabs for additional support. Strip footings are commonly used in the construction of houses and other low to medium-rise buildings.
