Joseph, one of Jacob's 12 sons, was born in the Mesopotamian town of Haran to his parents Jacob and Rachel. At the age of six, he left Haran with his family and faced many challenges, including being sold into slavery by his jealous brothers. Despite this, Joseph remained faithful and trusted in God to deliver him from his tribulations. His story is detailed in Genesis 37, where we learn that he was his father's favorite and that he had a dream from God. This dream led to him predicting seven years of bountiful harvests followed by seven years of famine in Egypt. Joseph also demonstrated humility and a desire to help the Egyptian people, even though he had been taken as a slave. Eventually, his brothers came to Egypt for food and did not recognize Joseph. He was courteous and showed a willingness to help them. Joseph's dream from God did come true and he eventually rose to power as the second-in-command to Pharaoh. Through it all, Joseph remained faithful and lived out his purpose as a leader in Egypt.
