According to the text, a large number of Russians living in Latvia are being forced to leave the country this week as Thursday is the last day for them to apply for permits to stay. The president of the office, Petr Rafaj, has promised to modernize the office and expedite administrative proceedings. However, there is a possibility that a lawsuit will be filed against the decision of the office. Rafaj, a former member of ČSSD, received support from eight members of the party and one vote from Bělobrádek to keep his position. The decision has been questioned as Rafaj has no significant experience or qualifications for the role. Jan Rafaj, president of the Union of Industry and Transport, will be moderating an event featuring Petr Fiala, prime minister and former leader of ODS.
