Google has developed Gemini, a new large language model to be incorporated into its products, including search, ads, and Bard. It is the first model to outperform human experts on Massive Multitask Language Understanding, and is described as "natively multimodal" as it can learn from data beyond just text. However, Google has faced criticism for a video demonstrating Gemini, which was not conducted in real time. Gemini is the next generation of AI models, able to process text, images, and audio. It is the successor to LaMDA and PaLM 2, and has been launched amid much fanfare.
