According to recent reports, milk, butter, yogurt, and cheese have become significantly more expensive, but the price of raw milk has since decreased. In September 2021, the average milk price was around €0.36 per liter for conventional milk and €0.49 for organic milk. The milk processing company Lactoprot in Leezen and Kaltenkirchen is facing major financial challenges due to the gas crisis. However, milk prices are slowly rising and the raw milk value has increased to 43 cents. Lactoprot is committed to supporting regional producers and ensuring a fair milk price. The company is also navigating the global gas and energy crisis while striving to maintain their reputation for paying one of the highest milk prices in Schleswig-Holstein. The recent 20 cent increase in the milk price will directly benefit local farms, with 10% of the profits going towards environmentally sustainable practices.
