The main source of the pollution is from solid fuels used for heating outside the city. This pollution not only affects the attractiveness of the city but also poses a health risk, as evidenced by the third-degree air pollution emergency declared by the Crisis Management Center. Efforts are being made to combat this issue, with the "See What You Breathe" campaign being implemented in six municipalities. This issue also coincides with a cold spell, which has led to a second-degree air pollution emergency in Kraków and the surrounding areas. Despite recent improvements, Kraków remains one of the most polluted cities in the world, topping the list in Tuesday's pollution ranking.
