The EKG sequence is an integer sequence discovered (or invented?) by Jonathan Ayres in 2001. It starts with 1 as the first term, 2 as the second term, and each succeeding term is the smallest number not already in the sequence. This recent discovery has sparked interest and there are still open questions about its properties. The sequence is related to the electrocardiogram and has been introduced in discrete mathematics.
