To update your Mac, click the General tab in the sidebar and then select Software Update. If you have an earlier version of macOS, choose the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences and click Software Update. Alternatively, you can open the Apple Menu and select Software Update. To have your Mac check for updates automatically, turn on the "Check for updates" option. If multiple updates are available, click "More info" for additional details and select the updates you want to install. If your Mac needs updating, you will be prompted to do so. To update a newer Mac, click the Apple logo in the top-left corner of your screen, and then go to System Settings, select General, and choose Software Update.
